Labyrinths are ancient meditative spiritual tools used in many cultures to facilitate a transformation of consciousness. They are a metaphor for the journey of life. The circular pathway based on sacred geometry, is an archetype that is found in many traditions around the world to symbolize the mystical experience. It enhances balance of the human psyche and soul, leaving the mind at peace and open to other levels of awareness.

The labyrinth is a metaphor for the life experience. It clears the mind, gives insight into the spiritual journey by creating self alignment and offers awakening to an inner rhythm. This mystical means of accessing inner wisdom can create powerful insights, supporting action in the outer world and providing solace and peace.

Our Labyrinth

The forty-four foot inlaid labyrinth on the floor of the Centre’s sanctuary is an 11 circuit medieval pattern. It is a replica of the 12th century stone labyrinth at the Chartes Cathedral in France. There is no right or wrong way to walk the labyrinth. You may pause at the entry to become mindful of the experience, then follow your own pace on the unicursal path toward the centre. A labyrinth is not a maze -- you do not need to choose which way to go, simply follow the path. Allow your intuition to guide you, passing people or walking slower. You may want to pause in the centre for a while to connect with spirit before you return symbolically to the outer world by following the same path out. Dancing the labyrinth pattern is an equally powerful way to engage the body at a cellular level, fostering an intimate relationship of body, mind, and soul.
