Staff Minister, Director of Youth and Family Ministry

I, like so many people I have met in my 18+ years of attending this Centre and others, often say “Oh how my life could have been different if I would have had this teaching as a child/youth”. I believe there is no time like the present to make this teaching available to children and their parents. Children don’t need to be taught so much, but they do benefit from being present in an environment that honors their individuality and encourages freedom to express and create using their unique talents. That is goal for our Sunday Youth Programs.

I began volunteering with the children’s programs soon after coming to the Centre. I hoped that if the principles could be taught to children, then I could learn them too. Indeed everything I heard in Sunday talks, classes and youth programs helped me change my thinking and change my life. In 2006 I became a staff minister and have continued to serve this Centre by offering and coordinating programs for children and adults alike.
I love bringing the playfulness of the children’s lessons into adult classes and witness people transforming their lives as they apply this teaching to their own life experience.

Over time I have also come to realize that working with children is not always enough to make this teaching come alive for them. It is equally important for the adults in their life to know and understand how to bring “Spirit” alive in the home. To that end, I offer workshops and classes to parents, grandparents, teachers and volunteers who are looking for ways to use the Science of Mind teaching as a daily practice in parenting, mentoring, coaching and teaching youth. As a parent to three of the most awesome people on this planet, I know first hand the positive impact this teaching can have for families facing constant changes in a world that seems to be so unpredictable.

Since 2007, I have had the privilege of serving on the Youth Curriculum and Volunteer Training Committees for our parent organization, International Centers for Spiritual Living. This gives me the opportunity to extend my reach into a larger community, and it has given me countless blessings of meeting and learning from others involved in Youth Programs all over North America.
