SPIRIT GROUPS

Spirit Groups

Did you know human beings are meant to be in groups?
By nature, we thrive in group environments where we feel we belong and are accepted as part of a larger group. This idea has been proven though many scientific discoveries. One of the most famous theories is Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs simply states that people are motivated to fulfill basic needs before moving on to other, more advanced needs. Just after safety and right before esteem is Love/Belonging.

The social needs in Maslow’s hierarchy include such things as love, acceptance and belonging. At this level, the need for emotional relationships drives human behavior. Some of the things that satisfy this need include:
  1. Friendships
  2. Romantic attachments
  3. Family
  4. Social groups
  5. Community groups
  6. Churches and religious organizations.
It is important for people to feel loved and accepted by other people. Personal relationships with friends, family, and lovers play an important role, as does involvement in other groups that might include religious groups, sports teams, book clubs, and other group activities.

Participating as part of a small group can help one to find a larger purpose. The Centre for Spiritual Livings Spirit Group program is built around this small group model. With the sole goal of building Infinite connections with others throughout our community, groups come together weekly to learn about and discuss common topics provided by SpiritGroups.
